Based at: Danau Girang Field Centre,
Lot 6, Lower Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary
(Open to Sabahans)

Main Duties:

  •  Assist with the capture-and-release of animals and the collection of biological samples (including blood, faeces etc.) from primary project species such as bats, pangolins and other small mammals.
  •  Comply with all standard operation procedures, including the safe handling of animals which may carry pathogens.
  •  Assist in the visual collection of field data for report and analysis.
  •  Assist in the tracking of electronically-tagged species.
  •  Assist in managing and coordinating the supply and delivery of research materials and equipment.
  •  Check, service and report the condition of on and off-site field equipment.
  •  Undertake other project-related tasks as directed by the project leaders.
  •  Assist with other duties at the field centre as directed by the manager.


  •  Minimum SPM, not less than 21 years old. Fully vaccinated for Covid-19.
  •  No health conditions; healthy, able-bodied with good fitness levels.
  •  Has previous work experience in field research.
  •  Able to read and write in B. Malaysia, and can understand basic English.
  •  Disciplined. Ability to work within a team and receive instructions.
  •  Must be able to operate a boat, and a clean vehicle driver’s licence is an advantage.
